Kate Dowling Jewelry Design

This is a conceptual piece that inspired the Symbiosis Collection. It is a gold vermeil and synthetic ruby ring that holds an edible component, inspired by Ring Pops. The stones of the bezel are floral colored and when combined with the bees, it reminds the viewer of symbiosis, which creates beauty for all the senses. The metal component of the ring was modeled in Rhino 5.0 and 3-D printed with a ProJet HD plastic printer, then cast in sterling silver and gold plated. The Honey Pop was also modeled in Rhino and 3-D printed with the ProJet, then a mold was made out of Oomoo Silicone Rubber. A sugar glass mixture was made and poured into the mold, which was then placed into the ring bezel.
